Lithae Also, there is a pretty big reason why this should not have turned into a full out fight aside from nuance/plot focus and a full out fight would have completely ruined it if it happened. The rules and limitations of this world and the synthetic fluxlight humans. They have basically been bred to consider the Taboos unbreakable, it's in their coding. Having another person break them in front of someone of such a higher class than them was unthinkable to the two royals to the point where they couldn't fathom it happening. They really emphasize the inability for the people to think outside of the box, the man in charge of the program mentioned it as he spoke about it, that they refuse to kill because the Taboos are absolute to them. We *really* see this at the end when the main royal glitches to the point of death. He could not handle all of the Taboos being broken, the world no longer made sense and he could not handle it on a cellular level. I think this is integral to the plot. If you noticed, Eugeo also started to glitch but instead of giving in at the world not making sense and breaking Taboos, he fought back and broke through it instead (losing his eye in the process). I have a feeling all Integrity Knights have gone through this and that is where they are headed next. They do not break but break through.

Lithae Also not sure what the people calling this new series bad are talking about. If anything, this one may be better if not on par with the original series. The GG arc was the low point for me, though I enjoyed the spin off a bit more. This arc seems to have a lot more complexity and plot to it and it isn't just the recycled plot they kept using (new game new bad guy approach). I really like how they are showing the evolution of technology to what we see in Acel World. Acel World was the first series I watched in this universe so maybe I am more universe-invested than SAO-invested. I feel like using what we have learned so far in this arc, they could branch out and do an almost unlimited amount of stories for this universe. I actually like the will-power based system because we all know that is kind of what they were doing anyway, they just didn't say it out loud. Most anime uses it. And it makes the most sense in this fluxlight world. I think it is a bit more complex than what people are thinking though. You can't really control every doubt or strength you have mentally, it really needs a firm base in physical reality to work. If you know you never put in the work and have nothing to fall back on and no knowledge, there is no way you can convince yourself you are superior. The reason it worked for those two guys is because they had generations of their family built atop a system of building eachother up with their status in that world and they used eachother to try to cement that into reality by pushing others down. While that can work under most circumstances, like fighting the weak using fear tactics, especially if they are not aware of the system, we can see how it fails when truly strong opponents appear. Willpower is not an easy thing to control. Doubt is much, much more common than any strength and much more damaging than it would be in the real world where physical talent rules everything.

Leomark To those people who think that by not having good fight scenes is somehow ok I ask you this, do you always like half arsed and poor resolutions to climaxes/problems? Because that's what this series currently is. No doubt a new method of telling a story but what made SAO what it was apart from the story, were the outstanding fight scenes that made it a joy to watch. This, this is simply a match of wills, the stunning fight scenes have been reduced to I want to win more then you do. It falls apart, leaving a bad taste in the mouth like you've been somehow cheated, this moment, this problem that the series has been building to is about to have its resolution and it ends with two idiots yelling at each other believing they should win and then someone loses unceremoniously. By far the most entertaining fight was when kirito was fighting his teacher. Ironically the fight with the #1 disciple was worse in just about every way. So when you have set the tone in a attempted rape scene and leave the resolution to kirito just cutting the arms off the perpetrator with nothing but a single sword clash that's about as shit as it gets.

Sevipi That was so fucking intense, annoying and making blood boil that it singehadedly scored the show from good to great in a span of few minutes.

Slummis I must say, very scary scene, i knew something odd would happen between them but not cutting of the others' arms', still, an extreamly configurate end, i wonder what happens now!!!! ?????

Matt14h Honestly I've no clue what the people who call these episodes bad want. They're clearly watching the wrong anime and should go on and watch something else. If you sit here and whine because you hate a show that values story over being a 22 minute fight scene, you're the kind of person that bought Mass Effect for the multiplayer.

xt599 for those going on about the sword fights, Its not about the fights. if you want to watch sword fights watch kingdom or samurai champlo or some thing. the episodes are "bad" as some claim. there is a reason for the actions being taken and they fit with the baseline of the story for this arc. if your only comment is to complain about something then just don't. go and make your own arc for the story how you want it to play out.

crunchberry I realllllly wanted Eugeo to cut their heads off. I'm not usually prone to violence, but that part of the episode really made me angry. I suppose what did happen was good. Also, the Taboo Index needs to be updated, 'cause murder is bad but rape is fine? Or is it that the Noble's are above the Taboo Index? Is that what I read?

"Where...am I...?" Before he knows it, Kirito has made a full-dive into an epic, fantasy-like virtual world. With only a murky recollection of what happened right before he logged in, he starts to wander around, searching for clues. He comes upon an enormous, pitch dark tree (the Gigas Cedar), where he encounters a boy. "My name is Eugeo. Nice to meet you, Kirito." Although he is supposedly a resident of the virtual world – an NPC – the boy shows the same array of emotions as any human being. As Kirito bonds with Eugeo, he continues to search for a way to log out of this world. Meanwhile, he remembers a certain memory deep down within him. He remembers racing through the mountains with Eugeo as a child... A memory that he should not have in the first place. And in this memory, he sees someone other than Eugeo, a young blond girl. Her name is Alice. And it is a name that must never be forgotten...
