PPJoel someone commented overhyped, but how though, when this aired I saw no one actually talking about how awesome of a show it actually is, so I would say it underrated. The person also said it's slow that's what helps to really saturate the anime in the love, magic genre. Well maybe you are a shonen jump type of guy/girl

kingwiy As ZhonLord Said and I will say it again for him as watching this all in one day was certainly well worth the day. The characters and their stories matched with the atmosphere of each scene make it 9.5/10 in every aspect of this joyride of emotions from each angle. the insane amount of detail poured into each action the characters took makes you sit on the edge of your seat wether ir be crying tears or smiling like the sun through rain clouds, it never stops being perfect.

blindtaleteller In a word: Fantastic. Somehow, this odd-at-a-glance anime manages to use all the ingredients for a top notch show (not just anime) so well that there are very few I can think of that can compare. Visuals, music, and a unique story stuffed to stress it's stitches with nostalgia and myths bring this story to life so beautifully it's hard to find words to describe. The story hits you subtle, sweet, and horrifying, it hits you like a snowball set loose at the top of a mountain.. with the effect of becoming an avalanche before it's end. The most straight forward review and recommendation I can give is this: if you're a fan of films like Princess Mononoke, Howls Moving Castle, or yes as Zhon mentioned below Mushishi: this anime is for you. This one made my top twenty.

ZhonLord For longtime viewers, the first thing that comes to mind when watching this anime will be Mushishi. Quiet, but powerful, and often leaves the watcher feeling as if they've just been told a bedtime story. The elements of wonder this show brings to the table are incredibly well-executed, both the positive ones and the negative. It blends legends and lore from dozens of cultures, from dragons to christianity to egypt to Oberon, and it all blends together into a single cohesive world. The characters themselves are fantastic. Despite the lack of expression available to Elias himself, both from his fixed-shape skull and his eternally calm methodical voice, they give him a range of emotional capacity that some fully expressive characters never achieve in other anime. His and Chise's interactions carry the majority of the show as we watch her grow out of her timid, self-loathing shell into her own person. The supporting cast all have clear motives for everything they do and the way they do things make each one unique in their own right. Many of these characters are refreshing twists on well-tread ground, allowing them to say and do things that break the molds of their stereotypes - particularly the lady artisan. But the greatest draw that this anime brings is the emotional impact. Everything above builds a foundation for telling a story of growth and change that subtly draws the watcher in, not letting you realize how invested you've become in these characters until suddenly they hit a moment of triumph that makes you soar with them - or are suddenly caught in something that unnerves you right along with them - or makes you want to lash out at the person who dared to be so callous as to shake things up just out of boredom. All in all, Magus Bride is a quiet, passionate story that draws you in as quietly as a gentle breeze and it's only after it's too late that you realize it's a water current dragging you into the deep. And waiting in those depths are triumph and failure, joy and sorrow, anger and horror, all while making you feel like you just woke up from the best dream ever. I thought that Mushishi would be the only anime that achieves this feeling. Magus Bride earns every right to stand alongside it, neither in the other's shadow. This is well worth watching, for new and veteran anime viewers alike.
