Deca-Dence

Many years have passed since humanity was driven to the brink of extinction by the sudden emergence of the unknown life forms Gadoll. Those humans that survived now dwell in a 3000m-high mobile fortress Deca-dence built to protect themselves from the Gadoll threat. Denizens of Deca-dence fall into two categories: Gears, warriors who fight the Gadoll daily, and Tankers, those without the skills to fight. One day, Natsume, a Tanker girl who dreams of becoming a Gear meets surly Kaburagi, an armor repairman of Deca-dence. This chance meeting between the seemingly two opposites, the girl with a positive attitude who never gives up on her dreams and the realist who has given up on his, will eventually shake the future course of this world.

killerjoemeow What @blissisfake said... Great show. Would recommend.

blissisfake It is probably one of my favourite - if not the favourite- anime of this season. The plot was really well developed with a nice structure and interesting character development. The pace was pleasant. it did not felt neither too rush nor slow-paced. For this genre, I really think they did a great job. You've got to really be focused whilst watching it during the first episodes so that you'd not be confused. The ending was great, a bit emotional. I really liked it (8/10)

jallenjens Great show. 9/10. Really got me in the feels at the end! I'm wondering if they'll make a follow-up show that takes place years later.

nb-dante So far the best anime of the season! Early episodes were quite confusing but the last 4 got so much better and are pretty enjoyable! 9/10 easy... It's quite similar to The Matrix!

misbell37 Great anime, still so, so confused. So... is this a reverse westworld? Do the cyborgs come to have fun on the human wildlife reserve that's being run by a cyborg company? Are the cute robots the avatars for the cyborgs or are they the real bodies? Are they inhabiting a human body in Deca-dence or is Deca-dence a virtual world? I love the anime but I am totally lost... It feels like the writers watched David Lynch's works before making this ....I do assume the company is trying to keep the human population (tankers?) down to a reasonable number.

mad199109 @EternalWeeb, old enough to hold a thorough debate with most individuals, and I tend to read a ton, it helps to properly understand "terminology" and "definitions" (29 for the curious readers). I'm probably one of the worst individuals to try and get an argument over when I have proof and facts "lashed up" on my belt buckle. Lol. Again, no offense to anyone, I just don't care for personal opinions, I simply analyze and construct an educated deduction. Stay safe everyone! <3

mad199109 @geekjerry, don't be an imbecile. This very description is part of the series summary. While you call it a "spoiler", professionals and educated individuals call it a series "summary" or "description". It's something that is literally covered in the first couple of episodes. Get a clue and get educated. Because revealing the initial plot of a series is not ruinging the whole thing... it's literally the first 2 episodes... grow up. @Kastelholm, while you do have a "point", you've completely misinterpreted the direction of my statement and the context. Anyone can read my comment and say "Oh, that's not very high IQ". Don't be an illiterate buffoon. This is already demonstrating what I meant by "high IQ". Having a "high IQ" does not make you smarter.... it simply means you have a higher cognitive understanding. Look it up before you come back here and make a fool of yourself... again. Where is my proof? Look at the previous episode comments for each of the released episodes. You can see the ignorance and lack of knowledge in each comment. People aren't able to follow the series because they simply assume all the information is going to be presented to them, or "spoon fed" to them. That in itself would be a "low IQ" mentality. This series DOES NOT spoon feed you all the information. You have to pay attention and have some form of prior knowledge on how some of these subjects presented in the series "WORK". As an example: The dialysis scene, where no one was even able to understand how the MC became a "bug". It's literally an implication of how current society views vaccines, I.E. "They could just chip us with vaccines". And look, don't take this as an insult. I am not insulting anyone... I am simply stating that some people will have a hard time following what is happening in the series, even more so for younger audiences. My description was directed at how the series is composed and to what would imply that the general audience this is directed to is at least an audience over the age 13-15yo. A child would have a hard time understanding this series. Of course, I can quote and even demonstrate proof of what I'm talking about, say the word and I'd be happy to shut down your argument. I am speaking "facts" here, not "opinions". I could hardly care what you have to say about me, that's not the subject, and I won't accept any deflecting arguments; and if you are unable to compose an argument to derail my statement without attempting to "insult" me... give up. You already lost. My point; "My text description is a summary of the series, the series is ambiguous about some of these subjects; as shown through the commentary on almost every site; being able to understand what is happening and how things work in a series does indeed demonstrate high IQ. Anyone can read a paragraph and say 'Oh, I understand what you mean' but very few can watch a show and derive this conclusion. Just because you understand it, does not mean the rest of the world does." Ignorance is bliss, and your comment is a clear depiction of that. Not insulting you, just letting you know that your misunderstanding was more of an attempt at a "jab" than an attempt at "comprehension". Move along or present an appropriate argument... IQ is a thing for a reason, and it is a variable measurement in society... I.E. SAT, ACT, and THEA testing which increases your chances of getting into that college you wish to get into.

Kastelholm I'm sorry but anything starting with something like "this is a high-IQ" or "you have to be very smart" automatically end up on reddits /Iamverysmart mockery page. What part of your description of the series required high-IQ to understand to be honest? You could just as easily have done a simple Matrix comparisson as that's just as accurate.

geekjerry Thanks for spoling, you fucking son of a whore, get your fucking spoilers out of here

mad199109 This is a high-IQ series. No there are no plot-holes, it's just a matter of how much knowledge you yourself have and the implied details of the series. Currently on episode 5 and I have to be perfectly honest: God damn this series is fucked. To those of you who have been in the "anime" community since the dawn of it's birth: This series is relatively similar to "Tengen Toppa" (TTGL for short), with a splash of "Evangelion". Someone mentioned that it was a "anime Westworld" which is a fairly dulled down description. I'll go ahead and put my take on the series: This is a post-apocalyptic world where machines have control of the world; there is another species that has been born in the wake of these robot overlords. These species are known as the "gadol" which are seemingly implied to have been created by the robot race. Humanity is secluded to a domed nation that is managed by these robot overlords. However, humanity is unaware of these details, as they are frantically trying to survive these onslaught of attacks by the Gadols. Even more so, humanity is unaware that these robot overlords use "human" avatars to enter their area and use it as an RPG style fully immersive VR. These tend to be players or moderators of sorts. Moving to the protagonist: We have a young girl who lost her father at a very young age. Also, unknowing that her father was reaching too close the "truth" behind their existence. With these 2 details the series progresses in a form that the MC slowly comes closer to the "truth", all thanks to a robot that chose to go against the system. Sounds like a cliche plot-hole? Not at all, the other detail is that humanity, gadols, and robots are at the mercy of a single tyrannical robot overlord who dislikes "bugs" in the workings of what is "how the world works". Now, I am not spoiling anything major, this is something you will see in the first 2 episodes and much of these details are "implied", you just have to have the attention span to notice these details and the ability to deconstruct and reconstruct the story-line. If you wish to argue any plot holes, please message me, I would be happy to provided episode, time stamps, and quote from the series to counteract your poor analysis. I recommend watching this show! So far a decent 8/10

Kastelholm If you can look past the fact that it's the standard "protagonist loses parents"-cliché and the fact that they probably have the LAMEST FUCKING SUPERWEAPON EVER. The art is good, the world is interesting and I'll probably end up watching a few more episodes at least before passing final judgement.

Davidnh Another post apocalyptic sci-FI where humanity is barely scraping by n the main protagonist is a girl just wanting to do her part. But kinda cleshay but entertaining at the same time but it hasn't broken the mold that this geanra finds itself stuck in...
