IntenseIntrovert Ahhhh... what an episode! This is exactly what I LOVE in well written Shounen type animes and those are the kind of emotions, energy levels and goosebumps I keep coming back for! Thanks for the great show, dear author and animators! --- And now some of my more detailed impressions: --- 1) First of all - I couldn't stop myself from laughing and screaming 'The hair! THE HAIR!' when I saw Ichigo's final form - if you've read my previous comments, you will know why ;) He looked FANTASTIC with that wild black (!) cascade of magically overgrown hair, billowing behind him like a spiritual cloak in the wind of POWERRR! --- 2) Second of all - speaking about the wind - I loved the soundtrack of this episode, using not only well chosen pieces of music, but also carefully chosen SILENCE moments, and the sounds of raging elements: the wind, the earthquake, the afterwave of explosions, the peaceful piano in the rain, in the end... simply BEAUTIFUL. --- 3) Third of all - the final scenes and dialogues of Ichigo's training with Zangetsu were very satisfying too, I guessed correctly the general gist of what would they say and do, but I still admired the POETRY of both the script and the animation. Those scenes reminded me similar motives from the 'Zanpakuto rebellion' filler arc, some scenes from 'Naruto' when he was getting his final spiritual training on that moving island with Killer Bee, and some scenes from (for example) 'A Wizard of Earthsea' - a fantastic novel by Ursula le Guin, which I also mentioned in some of my comments before. I love how all of those different stories (and many others books and films and general psychological/spiritual discussions) deal with the same motive - meeting, chasing, fighting with, taming, calming, comforting, curing, healing, controlling and, finally, incorporating your so called 'shadow self', to become a fully realised, fully self-aware, WHOLE being... I wonder, what will Ichigo's life look like now, when he sacrificed his special powers for the precious, painfully gained wisdom, but he truly matured in that other dimension, and his new look is merely a small sign of this HUGE inner change... And that's what I call a GOOD storytelling. I'm glad to have watched this wonderful series up until this point, and I'm even more glad that it's not the end of it... Not YET. --- 4) Fourth of all - As so many times before in the crucial moments of Bleach, I was really admiring the VISUAL POETRY of that fight too - I've already mentioned my impressions about Ichigo's new look, but I also appreciated Aizen's all new grotesque forms and strange contortions. As a villain, he changed from some seemingly unassuming 'nerd with glasses', into that 'fallen Disney prince' as I spitefully called him before, with that annoying single lock of pedantic hairstyle, dangling in front of his eyes... but then, through the white, ghost-like, bland and boring 'chrysalis form' he emerged as some moth-like winged creature, and finally he looked like a white fallen Angel, with the black skull-like face of the raging devil... And of course, even his unnaturally overgrown hair, signified his raising levels of power. But what I find even more intriguing in Aizen's final moments before the dawnfall, is that he was the literal embodiment of some... Tarot cards... If you are familiar with their look and meaning, and if you pay a close attention to some scenes, you will notice that before his death Aizen is pierced with many blades and he literally looks like the 'Ten of Swords' card, and then, when he finally collapses, he changes into the 'Three of Swords' card symbol. I don't know if that was done on purpose, but I wouldn't exclude such possibility either, and I think it's absolutely FASCINATING. So once again - my deepest RESPECT for the author and the animators team! :) --- And finally, my point number 5) To the people commenting below: I don't agree that Ichigo could have defeated Aizen without using his final technique. Moreover, I don't believe he could have killed him even WITH his final 'Getsuga Tenshou', because Aizen kept standing up and he was still able to endlessly heal his wouds. The way I understood this episode is that his final downfall was due to that special seal implanted in him before by Urahara, who could activate it ONLY in Aizen's weakened state, achieved by Ichigo's sacrifice. Only their powers COMBINED could finally break all the defences of that insane, raging monster... But it was also the will of Hogyoku itself, which finally stopped considering Aizen as its master, and stopped protecting him from harm. Don't forget that he was feeding his Hogyoku with the SOULS of killed Shinigami and other people... So I think it's possible that those souls kept some remnants of their memory, identity and will, and decided to rebel against their tyrant in the end... Anyway, that's how I understand it, but I will definitely read the manga too, to learn, enjoy and savour ALL the scrumptious tiny DETAILS of the story, as soon as I finish watching this wonderful anime! :)

15-year-old Kurosaki Ichigo is not your everyday high school student. He has from as far he can remember always had the ability to see ghosts and spirits. A fateful day arrives as Ichigo encounters the shinigami Kuchiki Rukia, who saves him and his family from a Hollow at the cost of injuring herself. During this encounter, with Rukia unable to defeat the hollow she transfers her shinigami powers into Ichigo. In the aftermath, unable to continue with her job, Rukia allows Ichigo to take on the role of a shinigami in her place as they together defeat the Hollows plaguing Ichigo's town.
