IntenseIntrovert I rarely write strongly critical and negative comments under Bleach episodes, because my love for this anime is strong and true, but I'm affraid it has to be one of those times: 1) The green-haired Vizard girl has no other purpose in the story except being exceedingly annoying and her silliness is seriously overdone - both in her general behaviour and in the way she talks. Their whole group would be much more interesting and likable without her. 2) The immortal ''girl brutallly hits a guy to show her affection'' trope is heavily overused in different anime in general, and I hate it with a burning passion and with every fibre of my being. I don't care how many girls in anime have some (apparently) serious and severe ''anger management problems'', and use their own mental and emotional instability to hit a man they like, and consider that violence as the obvious sign of 'great affection, familiarity and intimacy'. That motif should just disappear from any and every single anime RIGHT NOW, and be FOREVER FORGOTTEN and the whole anime world would instantly become a much better place. The brutality as a 'sign of love' is never cute, adorable, funny and acceptable, not even in an animation - it's disgusting, regardless of the gender of who hits and who is being hit. But with a girl hitting a guy it's even more bizarre, because of course he has to be a noble knight who neither dodges it nor hits her back. So a man hitting a woman is just a primitive and brutal barbarian, a bullying beast - but a woman hitting a man is a perfectly fine 'cute and funny' theme, according to 'anime logic', even if the amount of violence she uses could make a man bleed, break his bones, knock him uncoscious or just literally kill him 'with her power of love'. I mean... For example here, in this episode: They didn't see each other for a HUNDRED YEARS, and the first thing some arrogant Lisa-chan does is kicking Captain Kyoraku IN THE HEAD, to push it deeper into the ground and then hits him again IN THE FACE to 'help him stand up'. Wow. He's older than her, he's her captain, he's already injured, and he's always been treating her as an absolute gentleman... He deserves nothing but RESPECT from that mad 'wannabe school girl' woman, so WHAT THE HELL?! ... It's neither funny nor charming - it's ridiculous and repulsive, and makes me hate that girl even more than I hate Aizen, which I'm sure wasn't the purpuse of that scene at all. --- I rarely rage that much while watching Bleach, and it's still one of the best animes I've ever seen, and I do love ALMOST everyting about it... But there are things which I hate in anime world in general, and it just sorely disappoints me to see them even here. They are horribly outdated as 'funny motifs' after all those years of overusing them everywhere, they were unbearably stupid to begin with, and there is NO EXCUSE for them to be happening at all, so there is NO MERCY in my heart whenever and wherever I see them. And finally, to finish my critical comment, my point nr 3) Don't you love it when the enemy just smiles and politely waits until the good guys finish talking, or, in this case, kicking their captain in the face in a 'tender reunion moment', before resuming the fight? I know it's another silly trope in anime in general, but I would never imagine that even the arch-enemy Aizen himself would politely wait until the Vizards are mentally ready for the fight, after having their little chit-chat with their former superiors. Seriously... It's so stupid that it makes me temporarily lose my willingy chosen 'suspension of disbelief' while following the story. Ok, rant over. I hope the next episode will be as awesome as usual. <Sigh>
