IntenseIntrovert There is certain strange, undescribable visual poetry in this episode - fist we have the grim, grave, gloomy lyricism of Grimmjow's 'raise to power' tale and his restless, neverending fights in the cold moonlight... And then there is this sort of invisible poetry surrounding the intuitive Inoue, who inspires Ichigo and can make the impossible - possible. I love the way they show the gentle glow of golden light around her, which seems to appear more often recently and increase its radius as her personal Goddess-like powers and her self-confidence grow. But in this and the previous episode her warm, golden, healing and life-giving light is beautifully contrasted with Grimmjow's cold, blue, destructive and life-taking one. As a result we have Protectress on one side and a Predator on the other. And finally there is the very well done contradiction between Grimmjow and Ichigo - one fighting to destroy and devour everyone else and to survive alone, proving that he's the strongest, and the other fighting to protect and preserve everyone else, even if it means his own self-destruction. And yet.. there is also something strangely attractive and even admirable in Grimmjow's proud, unyelding and unbendig spirit, which always fights till the very end and refuses to give up or submit to absolutely anyone, even in the prison-like, grave-like, hopeless, endless night of the Hollow's world, where he's forced to exist. It's beautifully emphasised when Ichigo clearly shows him genuine respect and even quiet compassion in the end, gently holding and slowly putting his lifeless body on the ground... Anyway, I was really impressed by the scope of all that visual, silent, wordless narration in this episode, so I just thought I would share some of my thoughts with whoever might read them afterwards. And of course - the last scene between Ichigo and Inoue looks like something taken out of a Disney movie about a Prince and a Princess... in a good way, I mean ;) For the record - I still prefer the fierce, untamed, sarcastic and a bit mischevious Rukia, but I finally start to warm up to Inoue too, as she evolves not only as a chosen-one greatest healer and an Almost-Goddess who can literally 'reject' the reality, but also as a more self-aware, self-confident, independent person. I like to see her as a maturing woman, who knows her own worth and dignity, and learns how to defend them, and who strenghtens not only her 'magical' powers, but also her power of will.
