mad199109 @AbyssGear You lost my interest in the first couple of sentences. I read through it though. 1. I didn't ask for an explanation of each character. Of course there are differences between characters. What you are probably trying to counter in my statement is this: "This is a copy and paste shounen series that can be directly tied down to Naruto's story line and plot... not even kidding." Now, re-read that WORD for WORD, and tell me where I say that Naruto and Black Clover match eye for eye? I don't. I didn't state that Naruto = Black Clover. If you are literate, you will understand what I mean; but here, let me break down that sentence for you... this sentence can be broken down into 2 parts, the initial misunderstanding that you had was that "This is a copy and paste shounen series..." . THIS is STRICTLY stating that it is a copy and paste SHOUNEN series, which is not wrong at all. Gimmicks that have been done multiple times, a generic story-line that revolved around buffing and de-buffing the characters, and of course, the pathetic attempts at unrelated fillers and comedy. PART 2 of this sentence would be "... that can be directly tied down to Naruto's story line and plot..." Is this also incorrect? No. I never said the characters were the exact same, but rather that the story and plot are very similar; and look here, if you want to be picky and go through a list again of HOW different the characters are; be my guest, it proves nothing, as the "story" says it all. 2 runts come out of some harsh childhood, they join a form of education system that teaches them how to survive in their world by the means of said world, they fail multiple times down the road but "somehow" (generic shounen) make it through battles they should have died in, they gain rank and precedence (A good example Naruto and Asta; Naruto marked a demon child and later protected as an irreplaceable asset, Asta as a human without magic and later on becomes the anti-magic guy which is also rooted to some demonic power.), following this they somehow reach the power level of team leaders, they are hit by the Discount Akatsuki (Licht's group), and the story unravels from there into a zest pool of fillers, battles, and then after a couple of weeks of no real content, they release the ending... only to be another gimmicky fight that leads to 1 of the rivals becoming the Hokage/Wizard King, while the other uses his powers to support said character, the end. Gimmicks and generics. Again, a characters mind is not my interest, the role they play is what defines them as a character. 2. I never said I did not enjoy this series. Lmfao. Personally, I enjoy the series... but I have also thought about dropping it as much as I do enjoy it. Professionally, I won't remember this series after it's completed. Would I re-watch it? No. These are the basis for rating and critiquing a series without biased connections to yourself or the audience. If you want to see a great series created by the studio that is currently lead in animation, soundtrack, and story; try out some of the works by UFOtable. A good example would be Demon Slayer, although he is attempting to become a Hashira, he is not doing it as a direct goal. His goal is to turn his sister back into a human. Becoming a Hashira is just something that comes along the way. This is a different type of shounen, in other words... not generic. Although, I will say that the comedy scenes are a little overdone. Another distinctive characteristic of this series is that Tanjiro doesn't just go nine-tails and beat his enemy... because that would be a stupid gimmick. Tanjiro loses, constantly, and is reminded of his own weakness. Each time this character has defeated someone, it was either because of foreign power leading him on OR his partners in crime would help him out at death's door step. Which leads me to my next point that REALLY get's me into this series: The studio and writer successfully make a group of people look like an organized military cell. This is something Naruto and Asta cannot do. The personalities are like all negatively charged magnets, they repel each other in a "comical" (gimmicky) way. Again, no offense, but if you want to argue with me on the basis of "literacy" and "assumptions" of my statements; try again. Here is a paragraph you can analyze, reconstruct, and come at me however you wish. I even left a few loose ends in this post as to see what you will respond. To those that are illiterate: watch the episode and stop making me cringe at how obvious it is that people DO NOT know how to read. Cheers!

AbyssGearSyxx @mad199109 One can claim that something is similar but still think it's good. Naruto was good early on, not because of it being 'shounen' and having a character that won't give up. It was a theme of ninjas, the idea that the characters could get stronger by acrueing secret techniques and the amount of depth they went into in trying to establish a world based off these concepts. So a lot of naruto's criticism comes when they fall flat or when that immersion is broken because of inconsistencies in either the plot or what they've previously said. Black Clover is rather similar in the "I want to be the leader of our people" angle, however Asta isn't trying to be the Wizard king so that everyone who was looking down to him would look up to him. Asta is doing it for an ideal of equal opportunity. If you were a Naruto watcher, you'd know that Naruto actually should've been treated as a war hero but for no reason wasn't by his own villagers. Naruto also had ineptitude but that was his personality. Asta's ineptitude isn't his personality, Asta is very combat savvy and it's not where he started out that is his personality but the fact that he's not afraid to see his short comings and improve as quickly as possible. To compare the starting point of Black Clover's Main and Protagonist to Naruto's Main and protagonist pair you'd see that Sasuke in Naruto isn't just slightly ahead, but actually totally outclasses Naruto for a long time. Naruto makes up for his ineptitude by getting support from the people around him in the majority. Asta does get support from the people around him, but even since episode 1 he has had no time to play around. This has made him more Akin to Rock Lee than Naruto in general and in that way you can see how badly Rock Lee personalities would kick Sasuke Personalities butts. This is not a copy paste. They cannot acquire more 'spell techniques' by conquering other villages like they could've in Naruto, thus the whole Chunin/Jounin Balance and Jinchuriki Split. The Clover Kingdom was the dominant kingdom to start. The hokage wasn't the first ninja to 'save the world' but was merely a descendant of the final boss who tried to end it at the end of shippuden. I actually don't like most of the characters in this anime without the plot backing them up and it is for that reason I can truly say it isn't copy pasta. Characters like Neji Jiraiya Rock Lee Gaara and Kiba were so well fleshed out that you could talk to someone about that character alone and have that section of the fandom break out in discussion really. This anime is less than Naruto was at it's highest point, and yet for what has been produced lately, I'll take it. If anything Asta would be a better paralell to Natsu of Fairy Tail and this plot to become Wizard King is the equivalent of him just wanting to be the strongest Wizard. Both Ntsu and Asta 'fight hard play hard' and are combat geniuses and will do the unexpected to defeat conflict. [Absorbing the enemy's force was literally what natsu did for the first season.] The way the side characters in this anime are established they lead a lot more to Fairy Tail's crew that was so big that you might not see a certain set of characters until it was conveniently brought up. [Like they are here.] As a matter of fact when Black Clover first came out, most people did draw the paralell to Fairy Tail so if anything you're the one lacking in expertise and critical thinking. So many more elements are visible between Fairy Tail and Black Clover than Naruto and Black Clover that your blindness is astonishing and you should stop talking down to others.

mad199109 @darklink23 You don't know what I'm talking about because you're more than likely an anime fan-boy. Like myself. The only difference is that when reviewing a series, I choose to ignore the cliche's that have either been done BETTER or CLEANER, as well as my own emotional attachment and relativity with the characters. Most people view shows on simply whether or not it "did something for them". A great example is Game of Thorns, pun intended. Until the quality is BLINDLY noted as mediocre, everyone screams "Jesus!" at the anti-Christ. Don't take it from me, take it from multiple reviewers in the industry. As far as my condescending tone, if you've ever seen one of my positive reviews, you would understand that it's not "condescension" but rather sheer "disappointment". Again, I don't mean to "trigger" the fan-boys and girls. As far as saying that this story is good @darklink23; think again. This is a copy and paste shounen series that can be directly tied down to Naruto's story line and plot... not even kidding. If you want to argue this point, go to the series review and I have a very detailed explanation as to each character reference and story reference. If you need proof from someone else, although you've clearly already seen the series yourself (lol); go to any reputable reviewer with an honest review that does not display attachment to the series, THEN we can talk. I'll stop you now and tell you this, if you think "thousands of hours" is enough to understand film... think again; I'll even stop the retort of "Naruto was good though". It wasn't... it did something different that brought about the worst into mainstream and pop culture, the Naruto run. Joking and not joking. Now, to everyone else that enjoyed the episode: I AGREE! Great fucking episode. Great arc. And finally, a moment in which all the characters drop the wanna-be comedic trash and display themselves as they are meant to be seen. Still a spitting image of Naruto, not going to waste my time explaining it, check the Series Review page. Toodles! Much love <3

Meganegokudou @Mad199109 whether or not you're correct, dude. The way you review stuff is very condescending. You act as if you're some sort of anime expert and whether that is true or not people are gonna be put off by the way you are speaking. Reading your reviews is like reading a post on iamverysmart. You make good points but God quit the shitmouth tone please.

mad199109 Starts at 5:10 ends at 21:30.... 16:20 of anime... One Piece is that you? Jokes aside, this series finally picked up, but realistically, 100 episodes in is pushing it. Now before the kids tell me "just don't watch it then"; ehm, unlike most people, I like to critique series as a whole, not just a portion. Sadly the episodes leading up to the 100 ep arc were... sloppy. Now, with that said and out of the way, this arc is quite frankly beautiful. Is it the best? No, too much rambling and too much funding wasted on "entrance theatrics" for the characters. But SO FAR, strictly speaking FOR THIS SERIES, it is the best one they have dished out. The fighting looked like actual fights using magic. Although some camera shots did add things into the viewers POV that weren't there before, it still did a phenomenal job. Now kids, as a whole it's still struggling, but this arc did wonders for the series. I am not talking about "opinions" either here. Strictly basing it off of the writer (story), director (presentation and direction), and the cast (voice acting and fluid conversation); in other words I'm talking facts. Not what I "feel" for the series as a whole. Professionally, it's lacking; however, as a viewer, it is a very enjoyable watch. There are very few series that make me "just drop it". Which many of the fan-boys already know me for my extensive review on the series as a professional piece. They hate it, because they never understood what I am trying to say. Lol. Then again, that just shows the difference in age, maturity, experience, and intellect. Great episode, 9/10 mainly because of the clear display of character development. Cheers!

Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta's power was revealed, he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "black clover"! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!
