Ao no Exorcist

This world consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan the god of demons, but there's one thing that he doesn't have, and that's a substance in the human world that is powerful enough to contain him!! For that purpose he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will his son agree to his plans? Or will he become something else...? An exorcist?

Yakthemaster It’s a very good anime, sure it has some similarities to other anime but that doesn’t make it bad in the slightest. On the contrary, i think it’s great how they producers were able to combine all these ideas and still make the anime as good as it is.

ZhonLord A fantastic unique story, Blue Exorcist paints the world of humans and the world of demons as two sides of the same coin with completely different properties and worldviews. Starting with the main duo, Rin and Yukio have a fantastic ability to play off each other and and the people around them. Yukio's forced self-control, Rin's openly brazen attitude and easy camraderie, create interactions that practically write themselves. The supporting cast, both human and demon, fill the show out into a wonderful cast that contains few to no direct sterotypes - everyone has motivations, actions or views that belie what they initially appear to be and quickly grow into their own people who are a treat to watch. The demons are absolutely fantastic, from the whimsical Mephistopheles who's simply looking for the most entertainment he can get, to the curiosity-overwhelms-all Amaimon, to the basic demons that both help and hinder our heroes at various intervals. The show makes it very clear that many demons just want to exist and have their own code of behaviors and actions that, when understood, allow for near-peaceful resolutions to the conflicts that occur. Animation wise, the haunting blue flames quickly come to seem natural as most of the story is told from Rin's perspective, making the occasional normal flame start to seem the unusual one. Every demon's appearance is unique, and are animated to have their own live without seeming like just a puppet on strings. The way each exorcist uses their abilities is also given a great portrayal, making it clear that these aren't soldiers broken to a mold but warriors who work best as a team. The biggest weakness of Blue Exorcist is that it follows the same route as the original Fullmetal Alchemist: It took X volumes and change of an incomplete manga, wrote its own direction for how the story will move forward, and animated it. While it's done well and pulls off a satisfying finale, it simply can't compare to the original story. Much like Brotherhood, there is now a manga-faithful continuation called Kyoto Saga (Kyoto Fujouou-hen) that tells the actual story, starting after the forest battle with Amaimon. It skips the buildup of past episodes in favor of a few flashbacks that make it clear where the stories diverge, and then moves forward with the original story. Give both a watch and decide for yourself which version is better, but either way the earlier episodes are faithful to both.
