blissisfake I really enjoyed it, one of my favourite animes of this season. It was neither boring nor repetitive and the end was exquisite. It was really entertaining. (8/10)

paramon Hmmm. I have a conflicting feeling about this one. First of all - that OP song is horrendous. It's composed very badly and performed even worse. I can't even call it singing And it's not fitting the opening sequence even a bit. The plot is simple and easy to follow. The story direction is a little clunky but manageable. Graphics are top-notch and action scenes are very dynamic and directed with masterful precision. By the way - people mistaking that for cyberpunk. It's not cyberpunk but a hi-tech fantasy. The story is a little bit too smart for the average kid to follow. For example - there is no clear explanation for what "Akudama" stands for. Just bits of info thrown to us in some dialogs and info-panels. It could be frustrating to see that everybody in the story knows what Akudamas are and we are not. But I like ut this way. Most likely we will get more information later in the story and I wanna compare what I got with the real thing. All the characters are likable in their own way. My favorite is a Cutthroat, he's a charmer. I'm on my 4-th ep and most likely will see it till the end. But seriously - that OP is garbage.

prettygirlella My dumbass forgot that pushing enter would post my comment. Anyways. My review will probably be in contrast with some others. *SPOILERS AHEAD* So actually I found that the name "Akudama" was a smart choice. Additionally, the only in depth names we got were titles of the crimes they had committed. This is important because it plays into the idea that the Akudama do not have feelings/are bad people. Suppressing their humanity allows Kanto and the executioners to convince the civilians that all Akudama (people who break the "law" which the law is defined by the police) are evil and deserve to die. That is why we saw no uprising in the public execution planned for Cutthroat. We never got the background stories from these characters (except for a small glimpse of Swindler's and Courier's at the end). This makes the viewer at a disadvantage, where we must find our own ways to empathize with these characters without knowing why they chose this path of life. The directors definitely chose to break the 4th wall here by putting us in the same situation as the other civilians in this show. Proof that this is real: take your first impressions on the characters and then take your last impressions. some characters must seem better or worse. However your impression could not be persuaded by their pasts. The viewer gets to decide if they agree or disagree with the character's choices based on the plot line that is moving forwards. In other words, their titles "Hacker", "Brawler," "Doctor," and their crimes beforehand have very little impact on the viewer. Secondly, I found that one of the largest themes was very closely related to the anime "Death Note." This theme explores the questions of who gets to kill others? What makes killing justified? I think it was very cool how the executioners would show their card that says "licensed to kill." Licensed by the ultimate authority? At first it seemed like they were somewhat justified to kill Akudama but later in the season we see that they grossly misused their power. It makes me think that maybe we should question anyone who claims that killing is justified. Are they in power over us? Have they "brainwashed (think of the "info" bunny and shark show) us into believing their sense of justice? Who is a real criminal and who isn't? Where and when can the law be bent and for who? Some important scenes that can further this idea is: when Swindler was made "swindler" because she didn't want to use someone else's money. when the executioners found it justified that Kanto was requesting human vessels (basically like human slavery). when the executioners named all rioters "akudama." When the executioners took Doctor off of the "akudama" list because she cooperated with them (even though she was the most likely to kill people other than Cutthroat). I could even reach and say that Cutthroat seems to be mentally disabled. In current society you will be spared and sent to a mental facility if you are found to have mental issues. However, he ruthlessly killed people and broke his friendship with Swindler, which seemed like the one example that he had any feelings. So, doesn't a danger to society like him deserve to die? One of my favorite scenes was when the Executioners labeled the rioting citizens as "Akudama." To what extent can we pursue our idea of justice? Does someone pursuing their idea of justice warrant death? And who gets to decide what "justice" is.? Third, this show is somewhat of a warning of what will happen if we allow Artificial Intelligence (AI) to start controlling the means of justice. In episode 1, where Swindler earned her name because the robot could not understand why she would not pay with someone else's money. In episode 11, where all of the police robots began killing the citizens once they were declared Akudama. AI lacks the emotional component that drives all humanity to fight for an idea of Justice. So it doesn't make sense for them to have AI take over the means of pursuing justice. Episode 10? 11? Where we find that Kanto is actually a quantum computer that takes the concept of space and life. Kanto is demanding human sacrifice so that it is able to survive forever. It does not have the emotion to understand that testing on children and using them for your own gain is fucked up and immoral. Where Kanto seems to rule over absolutely everyone we begin to see it's lack of understanding of human emotion controlling the society of Kansai.

CrimsonFluT it might feel like it starts off suddenly, but after that it has some interesting pacing with good fights. The style is also unique and the ending doesn't disappoint. I'd recommend

super_robo_MG TLDR: seems like a fun action-adventure romp with a cast of eccentric sociopaths forced to work together to pull off a heist. Great animation, cool music, and a gorgeous futuristic setting. Not exactly the most cerebral of anime, but a fun "turn off your brain and watch the craziness" sort of show. After only three episodes I'm hooked, and I'd definitely give this my recommendation.

mad199109 Before I begin my viewpoint of ep1: Please note that this is my UNBIASED opinion. As in, even if I ENJOYED the show, I have to be REALISTIC about the series FAULTS. *****NOTICE***** THERE ARE EP1 SPOILES AHEAD***** I loved the "feel" of this series, however, there are many HEAVILY unrealistic concepts, mainly saying this because if it's meant to be a "cyberpunk" style series, it must hold some regard to series that do the same. For one, having the cops called on you while ordering food is stupid, it's something you could easily over-rule if you show proof that you are willing to pay. Secondly, not using cash to pay off a bill is also ridiculously stupid, unless the character has a LITERALY syndrome, it's not plausible. Fast forward to each of the "akudama", not much real "substance" was given to these characters besides their "titles" which quite frankly felt like someone tried throwing on some discount plot-armor for the sake of saying "wHaT pLoT hOlEs BrUh?". Like seriously, you don't need to be a huge critique or an English graduate to figure out that the titles "Hacker", "Doctor", "Brawler", "Courier", etc etc etc pretty much make this have the feel of a videogame, which is not bad, but at the same time it takes away from building up each character. Fast forward to the technology that was being used, some of it seemed awesomely futuristic, but then you have the blimps that are literally a representation of "steampunk"... in a cyberpunk setting? Ugh... to put it bluntly, why would you use outdated technology to run a city? Look at the cars too, they look like they are straight out of a 1800's film. For my 4th point, I'll cut to the end, how the fuck does someone fight a mecha tank with a forcefield... oh wait, with a motorcycle that apparently has a beam cannon... the fuck is this? Tron? Cyberpunk? Steampunk? Pick a fucking genre please. And don't let me forget to mention the fact that they added a portion in which 1 single guy managed to put collars on over 5 people in less than a second. Unless you're going to tell me that these guys were willingly allowing them to put a collar on them? Catch my drift? The show is without a doubt a beautiful work of art, but if you're here for STORY, PLOT, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, DEPTH, or anything that is worth your while... this might just not be the show for you. I will continue to watch the show as it's clear that I do enjoy the ARTWORK, but as far as story goes, it's a cliché. AGAIN, I ENJOYED THE SHOW, HOWEVER, I AM NOT ONE TO LET MY EMOTIONS GET THE BETTEROFME, IT WAS INCREDIBLY UNREALISTIC AND FULL OF PLOT HOLES. Don't like my review? Do me a favor and post YOUR UNBIASED REVIEW, as in, without your emotions in it. If you can do this, you are worth my time, if not, fuck off kid, no one has time for you.
